Organizers of a Christmas procession taking Santa Claus through a Welsh town have warned they may have to cancel future visits after he was mobbed by children in the streets. The mobile grotto, set up and paid for by the Caernarfon Round Table, was crossing part of North Wales on Friday night.
As it passed through the village of Llanrugh, the boat collided with objects thrown by young people watching on the side of the road before fleeing the scene, North Wales Live reported. Organizers say they spent a lot of money on the attraction – a Land Rover tows a decorated trailer – and if they are attacked again it will be the last time they are shown, which will no doubt disappoint many children and their families. .
With two more trips planned through Llanrugh this week, volunteers said they “would not tolerate” any more problems. You can get the latest Wales online newsletters sent directly to you for free by signing up here.

A statement from the Caernarfon Round Table said: “Last night we were in Llanberis and on the way back to Caernarfon, on the main road past the school, young people threw objects at a caravan and a Land Rover. Now, fortunately, there was no one there. trailer, but I would hate to think what would happen if there were people in the trailer, including children, and they got hit. We are in Llanrooge twice, on the 12th and 14th December. If it happens again in the first rotation, we won’t come a second time.
“We spend a lot of money to make the trailer look good and the Land Rover is an integral part of that. We can’t afford to hurt any of them, and more importantly, we don’t want anyone to get hurt. If you know who these young people are (you’ve seen them running away), tell them to behave and not spoil others. We will not tolerate this. Remember that we are volunteers and we do this with a good heart. Let’s all make sure we can keep coming to Llanrugh and that a small number of people don’t ruin everyone else’s trip.
