In a building located at Carrera 40 and Calle 6A, in the Mesolandia neighborhood of Malambo, on Tuesday afternoon, December 12, the criminal attack was committed that took the lives of a young man, identified as Harold Rafael Fandiño Suárez, 29. years old, and his mother , identified as Bautista Sofía Suárez González, 48.
A police report indicated that around 3:10 p.m., a suspect approached the house on foot and saw Fandiño Suárez, whom he repeatedly struck with a firearm projectile. Then, in the middle of the act, he located the woman and shot her several times, leaving her lying on the floor of the house.
After the incident, mother and son were taken to the Campbell Clinic in Malambo, where Fandiño Suárez’s death was initially confirmed.
The woman’s death was reported for about four hours afterward.
This medium learned that the Metropolitan Police of Barranquilla sought to verify information contained in a pamphlet distributed in that area of the municipality identifying the deceased as an alleged member of ‘los Costeños’ or a faction of this criminal structure . .
In the same way, the authority determined that Bautista Sofía Suárez González was the same person who was arrested there in Mesolandia in August 2022 for having facilitated the storage of the elements used to commit the murder of the driver of the Transmecar company, identified as John Gómez, to commit.
At that time, the detainee coincided with another suspect because he had stolen a motorcycle, a revolver, clothing and motorcycle helmets that were apparently used in the commission of the crime in the same home where the incident allegedly occurred on Tuesday.
On that date it was also said that the man driving the motorcycle transporting the hit man was wanted for that attack. It was alias ‘Haroldcito’, who could be the son of Bautista Sofía.
