The Israeli army announced that it recovered the bodies of two other Israeli hostages taken by Hamas in Gaza: two soldiers Nik Beizer and Ron Shermann, both 19 years old. The Army claims to have informed the soldiers’ families and shares their pain. Beizer began his military service on April 30 and on October 7 he was taken prisoner by Hamas terrorists who launched an attack on his base near the Erez Pass. Sherman, however, last spoke to his mother on the morning of October 7, when their military base near the Gaza border was attacked by Hamas terrorists.
Israel believes that in total 20 of the 132 people still being held hostage in Gaza have died. This is the update from Israeli government spokesman Eylon Levy: “Hamas is currently holding the bodies of twenty hostages, we know they were murdered while being captured.” Levy declined to comment on possible negotiations for the release of those still in Gaza, but reiterated Israel’s firm will to try to get them out of the Strip alive as quickly as possible. According to Levy, 132 hostages remain in Gaza in the hands of Hamas and other Palestinian militias, including 121 Israelis, eight Thais, one Nepalese, one Tanzanian and one French-Mexican. The hostages remaining in the Palestinian enclave are 113 men and 19 women, including two minors and ten people over 75 years of age.
