Gaza, the Israeli army’s admission: “Three hostages killed due to a tragic mistake”

Terrible news from the war in the Gaza Strip. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Daniel Hagari announced that during fighting in Shejaiya, northern Gaza, troops mistook three Israeli hostages for militiamen and opened fire on them, killing them after they were found to be a threat. “This is a tragic accident, the responsibility lies with the IDF,” said Hagari, who then clarified: “This is an area where soldiers encountered many terrorists, including suicide bombers.” Hagari gave the names of the hostages involved in the case: they are Yotam Haim, who was kidnapped by Hamas in Kfar Aza, and Samer Talalka, who was kidnapped in Nir Am. The third hostage was not identified at the family’s request. The consequences – it is believed that at least twenty hostages are dead – of an atrocious conflict triggered by the terrible Palestinian terrorist attack on October 7th.
