The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the cause of death of 54-year-old Matthew Perry was the acute effects of ketamine, an anesthetic sometimes abused for stimulant or euphoric purposes.
“Factors contributing to the actor’s death included drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine (used to treat opioid use disorder).” – we read in the announcement.

According to the coroner’s report, the unconscious actor was found in the swimming pool of his home on October 28 around 4 p.m. After an ambulance was called, paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced him dead.
CNN reports that no evidence of alcohol, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin or fentanyl was found.

His family released a statement about Perry’s death. “We are devastated by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and as a friend. You all meant so much to him. We appreciate this outpouring of love,” we read in the statement.
Friends and co-stars also remembered the late Matthew Perry. “We all loved him, especially me. Every day. I loved him unconditionally. And he loved me. I’m devastated, heartbroken. Sweet dreams, Matty,” wrote actress Selma Blair.
