A wind strong enough to move a parked plane. The incident took place on Sunday, December 17, at the “Jorge Newbery” airport in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Aerolineas Argentina’s Boeing B737-76N departed due to strong winds exceeding 140 km per hour. The plane was actually moved from the parking lot where it was parked on the take-off and landing runway.
The airline announced that around 100 flights were canceled due to exceptionally bad weather conditions. A situation that was partially resolved during the day but still caused delays and inconveniences. Meanwhile, the extraordinary bad weather wave causes various problems in the country. It was recorded that 13 people died when the roof fell during an ice skating competition in the city of Bahia Blanca, south of Buenos Aires.
The exceptionally bad weather wave also alerts central authorities, who have instructed residents of the Buenos Aires region to rely on information from the meteorological service and, if necessary, to stay at home, especially in the early morning hours.
