Nuclear energy is at the top in the European Union. The European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, has in fact launched the project for an industrial alliance of small modular nuclear reactors. All with the fundamental objective of achieving climate objectives for 2040.
“We believe that mini modular nuclear reactors can help us achieve the truly ambitious 2040 climate goals. And to enable these developments and pay attention to the highest safety standards, we must set the rules for member countries, but obviously we want adapt the industry. That is why we are planning to establish the Small Modular Nuclear Reactors Industrial Alliance early next year.” This was stated by European Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson upon her arrival at the Energy Council.
