The accident was very severe. Zakaria Bouziani, the 25-year-old goalkeeper of Algerian Ligue 1 club Mouloudia d’El Bayadh, died along with assistant coach Khaled Zitouni when the bus carrying the team overturned in the Tiaret province in western Algeria.
The bus driver also died. The news was confirmed a few hours ago by state television, based on the Tiaret civil protection directorate, and it was stated that there were many injured in the accident. The team bus was heading to the coastal region of Tizi Ouzou for the match against Js Kabylie on Friday evening for the eleventh matchday of the Algerian top league.
The Algerian Football Federation has decided to immediately postpone all matches of the national championships in all leagues scheduled for the weekend. Mouloudia Club El Bayadh, known as MC El Bayadh or simply MCEB, is the football club of the city of El Bayadh.
