The minister announces that Ukrainians living abroad will receive a summons

Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced that Ukrainians living abroad would be drafted into the army.

In an interview with German media, Umerov said that all Ukrainian citizens of military age who are currently abroad will receive a notice to appear at conscription points.

“We want justice for everyone because it concerns our own country. We will send them invitations,” Umerov said, the politician’s statement quoted by Rzeczpospolita.

In May this year, information appeared in the public space that Ukraine, following the example of Russia, began to send mobilized people to the front without adequate preparation. The BBC, among others, wrote about it. This has also been mentioned many times by analysts dealing with Russian aggression against Ukraine. During the war, both sides suffer heavy losses, but the Russian side has a much larger number of potential recruits.

The army wants half a million people

The calls to assembly points are related to the likely expansion of military mobilization. On Tuesday, the President of Ukraine announced the request of the Ukrainian Military Command to recruit another 450-500 thousand recruits.

Volodymyr Zelensky did not hide that mobilizing people on such a large scale is a “very delicate” issue. He said the final decision on the matter has not yet been taken. The issue will be studied by top military officials and then dealt with by parliament.

At a press conference in Kiev, the politician expressed hope that the United States would continue financial support for the Ukrainian military efforts. As he emphasized, the army urgently needs additional people, but the issue of equipment and ammunition should not be overlooked.

Duda: Ukraine is in a very difficult situation

President Andrzej Duda was questioned on Tuesday about the Russian-Ukrainian war.

– The situation in Ukraine is still very difficult. Ukraine defends itself very bravely. This is the extraordinary heroism of Ukrainian soldiers, the politician said, adding that the matter is made even more difficult by the fact that the Kremlin does not take into account its own losses because it does not respect the lives of its own soldiers. – But Ukraine is still in a very difficult situation and needs international assistance from outside, for which I am constantly appealing – said the head of state in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Radio ZET.
