Tributes have been paid to a 20-year-old man who died following a crash near Llanbradach. Gwent Police confirmed that passenger Chaz Ralph died following the crash on the A469 on Friday, December 15. Mr Ralph, from Pontlanfraith, was pronounced dead at the scene.
One car was involved in the collision: a white Mazda. The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man, also from Pontllanfraith, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while under the influence of alcohol. Mr Ralph’s family paid tribute to him, describing the young man as a “pure diamond”. In a statement released by Gwent Police, they said: “Chez Ralph, our handsome best man. We love you so much more than we ever thought possible; You were the best son, brother and friend ever.

“A clean diamond that everyone loves. You were too good for this world and you were our boy. We will miss your infectious smile as you were the life of the party.

“You always made us proud of you every day. You are in our hearts and always by our side, we will miss you forever, our tears will never stop falling, we will meet again. You are too good for this world, our wonderful boy forever and ever.
Officers investigating the collision intend to speak to drivers traveling on the A469 between 6pm and 6.30pm on Friday 15 December.
