Police have launched a murder investigation after a 23-year-old man was found injured at an address in Llandaff, Cardiff, on Sunday afternoon (24 December). A local man, also aged 23, has been arrested on suspicion of murder, South Wales Police confirmed in a statement today.

Police said they have not yet been formally identified, but the victim’s family has been notified and has the support of specialized police officers. Police said it was an isolated incident and detectives were not looking for anyone connected to the death.

Armed officers were sent to Chapel Street, Llandaff, “as a precaution” shortly before 11.30am today and the car park outside the Spar store on High Street was cordoned off. A spokesperson for the force said at the time: “Members of the public who may attend events in Llandaff are advised that parking may be restricted and alternative arrangements are being made.”

Police said at the time that a man was arrested and taken to Cardiff Bay police station.

“A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Although an official identification has not yet been made, the victim’s family has been informed and has the support of specialized agents. This is an isolated incident. and detectives are not seeking anyone else in connection with this investigation.”
