Middle East, Christmas attack: 70 dead in refugee camp

At least 70 Palestinians were killed in an airstrike on the Al-Maghazi refugee camp. Al-Jazeera reports this, highlighting that a spokesperson for the Palestinian Ministry of Health describes the attack as a “massacre”. The Israeli army admits it is fighting a “complex and complicated war” with many soldiers killed. At least five bodies of dead prisoners were reportedly recovered from a tunnel in northern Gaza. More than 20,400 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 7. The revised death toll from Hamas’ attack on Israel is 1,139.

The Israeli army shelled some Hezbollah positions in the city of Aita al-Shaab and surrounding areas in southern Lebanon. The information was reported by Al Jazeera, which publishes videos posted by Lebanese accounts on the social network ‘X’ that show the first moments of the Israeli bombing. There was no immediate comment from the IDF on the attacks, but they come amid repeated skirmishes on the border between Israel and Lebanon. According to reports from ‘The Times of Israel’, Hezbollah carried out daily rocket, missile and drone attacks in northern Israel, while the IDF responded with strikes against sites and operatives of the Lebanese terrorist group.
