Dozens of fliers appeared in Manhattan’s Jewish neighborhood on the Upper East Side, between Lexington Avenue and Central Park, calling on people to join a global call for a ceasefire in Gaza. The objective, we read in the leaflet promoted by the website «ceasefirestrike.com», is to reach 30 million members of the strike in the name of the ceasefire, something to be activated all together, at the same time, throughout the United States to make their voice be heard.
“Polls – explain the prosecutors – show that the majority of Americans are in favor of the ceasefire.” It is a necessary step, they add, “for both Israelis and Palestinians”. “Ceasefire” activists recall the “20 thousand deaths and more than 3 thousand people detained”. “Asking for a ceasefire – they continue – is imperative to avoid further deaths and suffering for both communities.” The war between Israel and Hamas has been going on for weeks, with only a brief respite, after which intense fighting resumed.
