More than half of Ukrainians believe in a quick victory over Russia

58 percent Ukrainians believe that Ukraine will win the war with Russia in the near future

This is the result of a nationwide sociological survey conducted by the Ilko Kucheriva Foundation for Democratic Initiatives in collaboration with the sociological service of the Razumkov Center on December 8-15, 2023.

The vast majority of Ukrainians still believe in victory (88%), including 63%. absolutely believes in victory (last year it was 78%). Only 5 percent doubt that Russia will be defeated. respondents. “More than half of Ukrainians (58%) believe that Ukraine will win this war in a short time: 6% – in the coming months, 21% – by the summer of 2024, and another 31% – in 1-2 year .

When will victory over Russia be achieved?

15 percent respondents believe that Ukraine will win in the medium term (3-5 years). At the same time, supporters of the most pessimistic scenario, who do not believe that victory will come in their lifetime, are a clear minority (2.5%). The survey also shows that the number of people who believe in victory in the summer of 2024 is lowest in the east (16%) and highest in the south (25%).

In terms of regional differences, the percentage of people who believe that victory will come within 1-2 years ranges from 27%. in the south to 36 percent in the west. The research was carried out by direct method in Vinnytsia, Volhynia, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Zaporozhye, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kiev, Kirovograd, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkov, Kherson, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Chernivtsi and Kiev Oblasts (in Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Kharkov and Kherson Oblasts, the survey was conducted only in areas under the control of the Government of Ukraine and not affected by hostilities).
