The war against Hamas will continue for “many months to come,” Israel’s military leader said

According to the Red Crescent, “the bombing of a residential building in front of Al Amal Hospital in Khan Younis has caused dozens of deaths and injuries.”

The organization reported that “relentless” shelling caused numerous civilian casualties “in the fourth Israeli attack on the hospital in a week.”

“Ground, air and naval forces continue to attack terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip,” the Israeli military said.

Many of their actions have targeted the tunnels where Israel claims Hamas militants are hiding, some under civilian facilities such as hospitals and schools, Israeli forces said.

“Although there have been several incidents near the border, there has not been a single attack from tunnels on Israeli territory during the war so far,” the military said.

“We will continue to discover and obstruct Hamas’ underground routes until they can no longer use them,” although it “will take a long time,” he stressed.

Israeli forces are fighting “deeply” in towns such as Khan Younis, in the south of the coastal enclave, the army said, listing a series of operations against the tunnel network.

A senior Israeli Air Force commander, Brigadier General Omer Tischler, defended that the bombings target areas with “minimal” civilian presence and that the “appropriate” munitions are selected to prevent “collateral damage.”

The military command thus rejected accusations of indiscriminate bombings causing a large number of civilian casualties, even though “exceptional” mistakes are being made in the war.

For their part, the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, claimed to have attacked Israeli tanks and a helicopter in Jabalia, northern Gaza, as well as destroying Israeli military vehicles in Khan Yunis, to the south. including against the “occupation” forces.
