South Africa denounces Israel before the International Court of Justice for “genocide” in the Gaza Strip

According to the documentation presented by South Africa, “Israel’s acts and omissions (…) are genocidal in nature because they are committed with the specific intent required (…) to Palestinians in Gaza as part of the broader Palestinian national, racial and ethnic group,” the UN court said in a statement.

South Africa adds that “the conduct of Israel, through its organs of state, state agents and other persons and entities acting under its instructions or under its direction, control or influence, in relation to the Palestinians in Loopviolates its obligations under the Genocide Convention,” said a statement from the International Court of Justice.

The documentation provided by Johannesburg adds that “Israel has participated, is participating and is at risk of further participation in genocidal acts against the Palestinian people in Gaza.”
