France-England: it’s railway chaos. Races canceled

Eurostar cross-Channel trains connecting France to the UK have been temporarily cancelled. Eurostar today announced the cancellation of at least some of its trains departing or arriving in London due to the flooding of a tunnel in southern England. According to French media reports, shortly after the company’s announcement, Gare du Nord station in Paris also announced that all Eurostar trips have been canceled until 5pm today. So far, 29 trains have been cancelled. “Due to an infrastructure issue on the high-speed line near London, we will be forced to cancel some trains to or from London on Saturday 30 December,” the railway company said on its website. A Eurostar spokesperson, quoted by The Independent, said: “Flooding in the tunnels between St Pancras International and Ebbsfleet has not improved and train services cannot operate. Eurostar then had to make the decision to cancel all services for the rest of the day. We understand this is an important time to return home at the end of the holiday season and before the new year and we are supporting customers at the stations.”
