The deceased father and son were the result of the first assassin attack on January 1, 2024 in the municipality of Soledad.
The Metropolitan Police of Barranquilla reported that Bertulio Armando Vargas Narváez, 65, and his son Boris Armado Vargas Yepez, 34, were sitting on the terrace of a house sharing with family and friends around 12:25 in the morning when they came tied to a motorcycle on.
It all happened at 12H and 67th Street in the Manantial neighborhood. There, the man sitting at the grill position took a firearm from the holster in an instant to shoot the victims.
Boris Armando died on the spot. While his father Bertulio was taken to the Agrupasalud IPS where he died from the severity of his injuries.
There was even talk that the victims were armed and tried to fend off the criminal attack, but the subjects only stopped shooting when they saw father and son lying on the ground.
In the same attack, 37-year-old Dairo Antonio Vega González was injured and shot in the hand.
On Monday morning, General Jorge Urquijo, commander of the Barranquilla Metropolitan Police, confirmed that an investigation was underway into this first criminal act of the year, while at the same time linking it to alleged illegal activities of the victims.
Apparently the names of father and son had appeared in a threatening pamphlet as alleged land grabbers.
The senior officer also pointed out that Boris Armado Vargas Yepez had belonged to the National Police and had left for some time.
