An explosion occurred on the southern outskirts of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, reportedly targeting the Hamas headquarters. The death toll is at least four victims. According to preliminary information, Hamas member and founder of the group’s armed wing (Izzedin al-Qassam Brigades) Salih al-Aruri was killed. This was reported by the Al Arabiya group’s Al Hadath channel, citing a security source. The news was confirmed by the Lebanese group Hezbollah to the newspaper L’Orient-Le Jour. Al-Aruri was an assistant to Hamas Political Bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh. It is stated that the explosion occurred as a result of a raid by Israeli armed forces.
According to Dpa agency, police sources reported that the explosion took place in the Musharfiye area near the offices of the Ministry of Labor. The area was ‘sealed’ by Hezbollah men.
