A 16-year-old boy committed suicide after losing nearly 2,000 euros in online betting. The money came from his father’s savings. Local Russian media reported this.
The incident took place in a town north of Moscow. It was the young man’s father who found his now lifeless son’s body on the porch of the house. The 16-year-old boy did not leave a suicide note, but the reasons for this act were revealed after a police investigation.
In fact, to cover funeral expenses, the father opened the envelope in which he had saved his savings, but found it empty. The man reported the possible theft to the police: The total amount was approximately 230 thousand rubles, or approximately 2 thousand euros. This is how agents discovered that the 16-year-old had used the money to place bets online but had failed to make any winnings. Therefore, the hypothesis emerges that suicide is linked to the sadness caused by losing family savings.
