‘We have always felt very supported by the police Barranquilla and its metropolitan area” the president said at the beginning of his speech.
Char confessed that he was overcome by two different feelings, one of which related to the departure of the General Jorge Urquijo, who assumes command of Police Region No. 1.
“There are two feelings, one for the departure of General Urquijo, who had a great relationship with us even though I was not in his period; however, his entire security project was supported by us and will be implemented in these four years. ” said the major.
The President went on to say that “at the same time, another feeling comes over me, of welcome to General Benavides. He is a young man, but there are few like him. He has experience in jungle commando, which is de rigueur. I thank you (General Salamanca, Director of Police) who assigned it to Barranquilla.”
