Police broke down the door of Barry’s home and found a large quantity of drugs inside. South Wales Police said that on July 15 last year, officers raided a house in Porthcurry Road and seized 50kg of amphetamines, as well as a “large quantity” of cannabis.

A police spokesman said the house was used by shopkeepers Daniel David and Nathan McKernan. Body camera footage shows police using a battering ram to break down the front door before entering the living room and taking a blanket from one of the drug dealers, who was lying on the couch. The robbery was followed by a search of another house linked to David, 29, and McKernan, 39, where more cannabis and a “large quantity” of cash were found. The spokesperson added: “Almost 10kg of cannabis was seized during the investigation. The cell phones seized during the investigation also contained incriminating messages indicating the supply of drugs.”

David and McKernan, both of Portkerry Road, admitted possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, amphetamines and cannabis. A judge at Cardiff Crown Court sentenced McKernan to five years and nine months and David to four years and eight months.
