There is a poisonous snake in the public toilet

“There is a snake in the public toilet, it came out of the toilet.” The call for help came from the rural town of Goondiwindi in Queensland, Australia. Snake catcher Tennille Banks responded to the scene with police. The woman caught the spotted black snake, also known as the blue-bellied black snake, before taking it out of the toilet and releasing it into the desert.

The spotted black snake is a venomous snake species native to the country. “It’s more common for snakes to be found in toilets than you think,” the expert said. Toilets are an attractive breeding ground for frogs and a feeding ground for snakes: “They come to get a drink or to look for a food source.” In fact, this snake species has a diet based on frogs. “You often find frogs in restrooms and public restrooms,” Banks said. After weeks of intense storms and then extreme heat on the country’s east coast that caused “frogs to grow big,” the latrine has become the snake’s go-to place as it searches for both food and a place to cool off: “They’ve got pretty much everything they want in one place.”
