Middle East, Al Jazeera against Israel: “Freedom of the press violated”

Al Jazeera strongly condemns the murder of two of its journalists in an Israeli attack north of Rafah. The attack demonstrates “without a doubt – denounces the broadcaster for which Hamza Dahdouh and Mustafa Thuraya worked – the determination of the Israeli forces to continue these brutal attacks against journalists and their families, with the aim of discouraging them from carrying out their mission by violating the principles of press freedom”.

Al Jazeera called on the “International Criminal Court, governments, human rights organizations and the United Nations to hold Israel accountable for its horrific crimes” and called on it to stop “attacking and killing journalists”. Finally, the Doha-based network promised to take “all legal measures to prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes” and committed to supporting “all journalists in Gaza”.
