The Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas, committed to taking forward a path of reforms for the Palestinian National Authority (PNA). This was indicated by the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, during a press conference in Bahrain, another stop on his regional trip that took him to Ramallah, in the West Bank, precisely to meet with Abbas. “What I appreciate about this meeting is that he is committed to this and very ready to move forward,” Blinken said, in response to a question about whether the Palestinian leader had made any kind of commitment to reform the PA.
Meanwhile, the United States has also warned Iran and the Houthis of the “consequences” if they continue to attack Red Sea shipping lanes. “If this continues, there will be consequences for the actions of the Houthis,” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told reporters as he prepared to leave Bahrain.
