Zelensky wants to control media reporting

The Ukrainian Center for Protection of Information Space will pay UAH 8.1 million for monitoring media reports, including: about President Zelenskiy.

The Information Space Protection Center wants to order information analysis services and publications on key figures in Ukraine. This includes the president, the first lady, the commander of the armed forces and the head of the president’s office

The tender for these types of services was announced on January 12, 2024. Its value is up to 8,193,000 PLN. hryvnias (more than one million zlotys). The services must be provided until the end of 2024. The deadline for submitting bids in the tender is January 22.

“The tender documentation stated that based on the monitoring results, the company should monthly analyze the strengths and weaknesses of reports on the activities of public figures, assess opportunities and threats, and also conduct sociological research on their perception by recipients in the media in the world and in the country. As experts say, this is to prevent disinformation and check whether there are traitors in the country,” describes the website ukrayina.pl.

“FT” alarms

Meanwhile, the American Financial Times published a critical text on pressure and media surveillance in Ukraine. Described include: physical attacks on journalists. All this is related to media monitoring by the authorities. “FT” points out that such actions “cast a shadow on Volodymyr Zelensky’s work to protect media freedom.” “Journalists have previously been victims of online harassment and smear campaigns, and in recent days this has turned into real harassment,” writes the Financial Times.

“I will reiterate that people in charge of (unofficial) media policy in the President’s office should have started looking for a job in the ‘copywriters for a day’ section of OLX a long time ago… And the fact that they still in their positions do not say much about them, but about those who employ them” – Jarosław Żelezniak, an MP from the Hołos faction, commented on the “FT” text on Telegram.
