Yemeni Houthi militiamen operate autonomously and independently in the Red Sea and are “heroically” trying to stop the killing of Palestinians. This was stated by Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the Navy of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the Pasdaran. “Yemen is an independent country with a strong army and also has a strong leader who acts independently and does not take orders from anyone,” said Tangsiri, quoted by Iranian state media. “Yemen’s naval operations in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and obstruction of the transit of ships belonging to the Zionist regime or that choose the occupying regime as their destination are in line with the Houthis’ support for Muslims,” Tangsiri argued.
