The police confiscate guns and war materials from members of the AGC

In an operation against organized crime, led by the Cartagena Metropolitan Police, the National Navy and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, three long-range rifles, ten suppliers, more than 280 cartridges of different calibers and three mobile phones were seized on the island… Tierra Bomba.

The police deployment took place in the early hours of the morning, when officers from the Tierra Bomba substation, on patrol, encountered two armed persons who opened fire upon noticing the presence of the police. After a gunfight, the suspects managed to escape to a wooded area.

According to the authority, the confrontation took place against members of the group Autodefensas Gaitanistas de Colombia.

The intervention of the authorities allowed the seizure of two AK 47 rifles, an AM-15 assault rifle, suppliers and cartridges of different calibers, demonstrating the illegal storage of weapons by this criminal organization on the island of Tierra Bomba.

Authorities have stressed the importance of this blow against organized crime and announced that the seized weapons will be subjected to a ballistic analysis for comparison with evidence from other criminal cases.

Colonel Gelver Yecid Peña Araque, commander of the Cartagena Metropolitan Police, emphasized the courage and determination of the officers who participated in the operation, underscoring the commitment of law enforcement forces to the safety of citizens.

“Our brave police officers took on these criminals and achieved this important seizure that affects these criminal gangs,” he said.

It should be noted that according to reports from authorities, 21 firearms have been seized and 23 people arrested for the crime of illegal possession of firearms so far this year, as part of ongoing efforts to combat crime in the region.
