Slovakia, Prime Minister Fico is no longer in danger of life after the attack

The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, was shot and seriously injured yesterday after a political event, in an assassination attempt that shocked the small country. Doctors fought to save his life several hours after the 59-year-old pro-Russian leader was shot, but his deputy prime minister said he believes Fico will survive. “Robert will survive, his life is no longer in danger. I was shocked. Fortunately, from what I know, the operation went well and I imagine he will survive in the end. His life is not in danger at the moment,” Tomas Taraba told the BBC.

The government said five shots were fired outside a cultural center in the town of Handlova, about 140 kilometers northeast of the capital, where Fico was meeting with his supporters. According to the latest news, Fico is in a pharmacological coma following the long operation he underwent following the attack. The operation lasted 3 hours and 40 minutes.
