The Cyberspace Administration of China explains that this is a choice that should be interpreted as the need to keep the database “safe and reliable.” The regulator, which has pioneered rules for generative AI and introduced a licensing regime, requires generative AI providers to “embody core socialist values” and the content created “does not contain any elements that would subvert state power.” Responsibility for the results obtained by artificial intelligence belongs to companies.
