Biden “didn’t recognize me,” his senator friend dumps him: “Shocking”

The lobbying group within the Democrats is growing, urging Joe Biden to take a step back from the November presidential election. And questions about his health are growing. The latest to question his sanity was a Democratic member of Congress, Seth Moulton, who represents a district in Massachusetts. He is a longtime friend of Biden, but the president reportedly failed to acknowledge him at the 80th anniversary event of D-Day in Normandy. Moulton, who is among 35 Democrats who have called for Biden’s withdrawal, said he has viewed the president as a “mentor and friend” since 2014. “Every time we crossed paths and I caught his eye, he would pull away and smile and say how happy he was to see me last Christmas at the White House ball,” he wrote in a column in the Boston Globe. “More recently, I saw him in a small group in Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-Day. For the first time, he seemed not to recognize me,” he added. At that moment, he said, he had the “shocking realization” that he was “no longer sure” Biden could win the presidential race against Donald Trump. “The president should withdraw from the race,” he added.

Will he do so? Probably, but not immediately. Biden does not want to give Benjamin Netanyahu the satisfaction of withdrawing from the presidential race and is therefore waiting for the Israeli prime minister’s visit next week before deciding whether to withdraw his candidacy. The statement was made by advisers to the US president, quoted by the New York Times, according to whom Biden has been persuaded to give in, but would first wait for a visit from Netanyahu, with whom relations are strained due to the war in Gaza.
