Fear returns to Spain. The country’s meteorological agency (Aemet) raised the alert to red in Malaga and south of Tarragona, Catalonia, due to the forecast of very heavy rain for today. The alert also concerns the rest of the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands, Murcia and the coast of Catalonia, as well as eastern Andalusia. There are also snow warnings in northern Extremadura and Castilla y León, where several roads are already closed. Faced with the prospect of more rain, many municipalities decided to adopt preventive measures and classes were suspended in several provinces.
Yesterday, however, the Data Integration Center (Cid), which manages information regarding victims in the Valencian community, reported that deaths registered in the region increased from 214 to 215. Another 7 were registered in Castilla-La Mancha and one in Andalusia , for a total of 223. The number of missing people, however, dropped to 17. The CID also clarified that all the bodies recovered had been identified.
