Femen’s latest provocation is topless and with a chainsaw

Two Ukrainian activists from the feminist group Femen caused chaos by attacking the famous “Broken Chair” in front of the United Nations headquarters in Geneva with chainsaws. Wrapped in Ukrainian flags used as garters, women protested Russia by chanting slogans such as “Keep Russia out of the United Nations.”

The work, created by Swiss artist Daniel Berset in 1997 to draw attention to landmines, was damaged by more than a dozen cuts. Police detained 4 people for questioning. Femen, known for its topless provocations, has continued to draw attention to political and social issues since 2008.
