Government spokesman Matthias Schuppe confirmed that the first signs point to an attack. According to eyewitnesses, the car directly hit the crowd heading to the city hall, in the city center. Authorities confirmed that several visitors to the market were injured, but it was not known whether there were also casualties. The alleged attacker has already been arrested by the police.
