Sweden prohibits the sale of the content of only fans. “It’s a gate for prostitution”

Sweden forbade the trade of pornography through, for example, only fans. “It is a gate for physical prostitution,” says Swedish Equality Minister Nina Larsson.

Sweden has adopted a law that prohibits the purchase of sexually transferred versions online, including through platforms such as only fans. According to the new law, it will be illegal to pay someone for a remote sexual act – eg via live broadcast – to see it by the customer. The regulations also punish the profit of such activities and to promote people who perform such actions to order.

“This is a new form of buying sex and it is high time to modernize the regulations, so that they also include digital platforms,” said the MP of the social -democratic party Teresa Carvalho after the approval of the law, which is adopted in parliament by a voting majority. Although the viewing and paying of previously recorded pornographic content remains legal, the new law focuses on live interactions that are carried out at the committee, which – as legislators claim – fades legal and ethical limits.

A new form of prostitution

Nina Larsson, Minister of Gender Equality, emphasized that the new regulations are a way to keep track of social development. “We see that young girls serves as a gate of the digital world to physical prostitution,” she explained. People who are involved in creating pornographic content for fans only criticized the law, indicating that it threatens their source of income. According to the government, the aim of the law is to protect young people and particularly vulnerable people. It was returned, including attention to documented connections between online use, human trafficking, drug addiction and the drawing of more and more serious forms of prostitution.

Above party departments

The bill was drawn up by the Justice Commission and received support about party departments. In Sweden, the purchase of sexual services is punished with a fine of a maximum of one year in prison, while pimping – a fine of a maximum of four years in prison. The new regulations will be put into operation on July 1.
