Foreigners who came from Ukraine must leave the Netherlands

The Dutch authorities appointed citizens of third countries who came from Ukraine after the start of the war, the deadline for leaving the country.

Ukrainian media informs this on Friday, referring to the message of the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND).

As explained by IND, from 4 September 2025, citizens of third countries from Ukraine will no longer have the right to temporarily protect in the Netherlands and have four weeks to leave the country.

Foreigners in the Netherlands receive a letter

According to the Dutch side, this decision applies to around 1,000 people. They will receive a letter with relevant information next week.

“The exception are persons with a residence permit or during the procedure for applying for asylum, or who have submitted a request for a permanent residence permit before 4 September” – we read in a statement.

They escaped from Ukraine from Russia

In April, the Netherlands announced that its authorities could stop granting asylum to the third party citizens who arrive from Ukraine who run away from the entire invasion of Russia -for example, students or migrants earn.

A total of more than 100,000 Ukrainian refugees came to the Netherlands since the start of Russian aggression to Ukraine, which has been going on since 24 February 2022 and has evolved into the largest armed conflict in Europe since the end of the Second World War and the fall of Nazi Germany in 1945.
