Supreme Liverpool didn’t give Villarreal a chance: 2-0

Eleven minutes later, Liverpool got their first big chance of the game. Mohamed Salah pulled from the right flank and sent a beautiful ball from the bow to Sadio Mané.

Although Riyad Mahrez’s pass to Kevin De Bruyne netted a goal, the attack a day earlier was almost a copy of Manchester City v Real Madrid 1-0. Mané now hit the ball badly and the header went away.

chances

The second good attack by the home team was narrowly missed by Salah.

After fifteen minutes in the first half, Mané shot just outside his legs for Raúl Albiol and shortly before half time, Thiago hit the intersection with a kick. Liverpool tried, but took on the Spaniards first.

goals

Perhaps the first goal was a bit of luck as the two teams kept each other well balanced (Liverpool attacked, Villarreal defended). This happened.

Left-back Pervis Estupiñan hit the Jordan Henderson center so hard that Villarreal goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli was taken by surprise and saw the ball go in.

The ice broke, the bottle was turned over and the ketchup started flowing.

Immediately afterwards, Salah provided Mane with a fantastic assist. The pass between Pau Torres’ legs was painful for Villarreal, but spectacular for Liverpool and Anfield in full: 2-0.

Both Liverpool goals were rightly disallowed for offside, otherwise the score would have been much higher.

It was a rather hopeless evening for the Spaniards and poor Horace Danjuma, who was standing on an island away and barely touching the ball.

yield

Liverpool have thus secured a good starting position for Emery, Danjuma and the entire Spanish team for next week’s return to Villarreal, who must find a way to prevent the Reds from qualifying for their third Champions League final in four years.

Van Dijk and Associates can boast an impressive performance in the semi-finals of the Champions League, with the club taking full control of its own ground.
