On Wednesday, Derksen rectified his story, saying that no penetration had taken place. Talpa announced yesterday that Derksen and his friends Wilfred Genee and Rene van der Gijp, who must have laughed hard at the story on Tuesday, apologize. But that didn’t happen.
Instead, Derksen said he wanted to leave the SBS show. It is not clear whether this actually happened. The boys had previously announced that they would stop, but later came back to it.
Römer, who was a guest on Radio 1’s Spraakmakers, says that discussions about how to continue the program are continuing. “Derksen’s conclusion is that he is going to stop. Discussions on how to proceed now are taking place elsewhere. I’ll be there in a minute, and then we’ll see what happens.”
I watched in amazement
Römer also says he was surprised to have watched the broadcast with Derksen’s confession. “There I saw one of our most famous presenters confess a live crime 50 years ago. It’s unbelievable how this is handled in the show. Is he here? What am I looking at?
Then Römer and the program management decided to talk about it during the next day’s show. The TV boss said, “It didn’t go the way you hoped. We noticed this yesterday. It didn’t go well,” he said.
