“I am the cause of all misery,” admits Derksen. “There is a lot of confusion about this program. My mistake. If the whole of the Netherlands hates you, you can’t say that the whole of the Netherlands is crazy.”
no influence
The lawsuit came to light the day before yesterday during an argument about Johnny de Mol, who stopped his talk show because of a complaint about excessive sexual behavior towards him. Derksen then told an anecdote from fifty years ago. He would “place” a candle on a woman who had fallen asleep naked and drunk.
Yesterday, he detailed this story: The laundry didn’t go in the woman, he just put it between her legs.
In addition to the story itself, the resulting comedic air was met with critical acclaim. His dinner partner, Rene van der Gijp, asked if Derksen had lit the candle and said the woman was lucky she didn’t have a baseball bat in the room.
Tonight Derksen said: “I told the story as a sweet anecdote, but it is not relevant. It created an atmosphere of joy,” he said.
Will Today Inside continue?
It is still unclear whether Today Inside will continue after publication. Derksen himself indicated that his time was running out. “I came to the conclusion that there is no more room for such a program. The cancellation culture is much bigger.” He said he would stop, but it looked like there was room to change his mind.
Host Wilfred Genee also didn’t seem to know exactly what tomorrow’s show would bring. The fans have to wait.
Earlier today, sponsors TOTO and Stella Cycling canceled their partnership. The royal also announced that it will investigate Derksen’s statements. “The aim of this investigation is to uncover the truth about possible criminal behavior discussed in this program. We also urge those involved to tell their story whenever possible.”
