Feyenoord fans arrive in Marseille for the Conference League semi-finals

The first bus carrying Feyenoord supporters arrived in Marseille in the south of France. They are there to cheer on their club against Olympique de Marseille in the Conference League semi-finals.

A fan zone has been set up for fans on Prado beach. From there, fans will be taken by the 2-kilometer shuttle bus to the Stade Vélodrome, where the match will begin at 9 p.m.

“The fans came out singing,” says NOS journalist Marjolein Hogervorst. “They had a good trip and got off the bus badly.” Two more buses from the Netherlands with Feyenoord supporters follow.

“I’m nervous,” said one fan. “My hands are shaking. This is a very important day. I’m looking forward to it and we’re going home with a win!”

Two Dutchmen arrested

They are not the only supporters of the Rotterdam club in Marseille. Many people had come to the city on their own initiative yesterday. This caused some commotion among the fans and supporters of the local club.

In support of the local police, the Rotterdam police have confirmed that two Dutch people have been arrested following reports in the French media. One of them was arrested for carrying a baton. A third Dutchman was injured. According to the ANP news agency, the Rotterdam police could not confirm this because he was hit by a stone.

The group of supporters who came to the city alone do not want to go to the stadium from the supporters area. On Instagram, he was called to a meeting in the old port around 1:00 PM. “Here the beer flows freely and from there we walk to the stadium around 6 pm.” It is not yet clear whether the police will allow the march.

More than 3200 tickets

Feyenoord has prepared more than 3,200 tickets for the first leg against Marseille. The French police fear that 2000 fans from the Netherlands will come to the city without tickets.

For the first time in 20 years, the Rotterdam club may reach the final of a European tournament. Last week, Olympique de Marseille lost 3-2 to De Kuip at home.
