Six people arrested after massive police action in Enschede and Delden

“We think it is a criminal organization,” police chief Arjan Derksen told the regional television channel. “It is safe to say that these six suspects knew each other and were related.” Nor does it rule out the possibility that more arrests and searches will follow.

The police have been working on this case for quite some time. Research takes a year. “We’ve stepped it up over the past five months,” says Derksen. “For us, this is a huge matter, given the number of agents involved in this case.”

He assures that this morning’s actions are not the last part of the investigation. “We continue to learn with our research team. It will be months before we come to a conclusion.”

During the raid, the police received assistance from the Special Response Service, where the police worked together with defense personnel, among others. On Twitter, police say the raid may have caused noise pollution around the occupied buildings.
