Following the example of recruitment agency Randstad, online store Coolblue is also reporting fraud against Sywert van Lienden. De Volkskrant writes that the company claimed to have been lied to by Van Lienden and his associates Bernd Damme and Camille van Gestel and wanted to claim compensation of around half a million euros.
Coolblue is the second company after Randstad to report on the so-called mask deal case. Randstad previously announced that it would get about 150,000 euros back.
Sabine Pijl, Coolblue’s lawyer, told the newspaper that the company has selflessly cooperated with Stichting Hulptroepen Alliantie because she was always convinced that it is a non-profit organization for health care. “If Coolblue had known that these gentlemen also traded, the collaboration would never have come about,” says Pijl. Coolblue was involved in setting up the web store and processing orders.
Coolblue also claims that she was lied to about her latest deal with the foundation. According to Pijl, Coolblue CEO Pieter Zwart canceled an investment of almost half a million, because Van Lieden, Damme and Van Gestel said there was no money. “We now know that these gentlemen had already made the trade deal with the government that brought in millions.”
