The anchoring of the concrete core is being improved and in some places natural stone can be replaced. Construction of a wall around the 5 meter high monument will start. The maintenance will certainly last until the end of this year and will cost 1.2 million euros.

What did you miss?

The Netherlands was caught off guard by the drastic fall revival of the coronavirus, so quarantine is back on the agenda. That’s what hospital administrators, virologists and other experts from the NOS say.

Today, the House of Representatives is speaking about ‘long-term corona policy’, but little is said about the preparations for a corona wave this autumn, according to experts. The government’s plans are too evasive and take too long to develop. In this way precious time is lost.

The biggest problem remains the staff shortage in health services. Mark Kramer, head of the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution, said: “Many health workers have not recovered. Absenteeism is still high and so is the pressure on people.”

More news from the evening:

  • “Ukrainian troops reached the Russian border”: Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense released a video showing soldiers at the border crossing.
  • President Biden travels to Buffalo to talk to relatives about the attack.
  • Kim Jong-un criticizes North Korea’s approach to corona and deploys an army: He said government-supplied drugs do not reach the population well.

And then this:

Ukraine won the song contest on Saturday evening and that meant a heart under the belt of Europe for the country at war. The commentary on Ukrainian television was made by Timur Miroshnychenko from an air raid shelter. The NOS spoke to him.

Happy Monday!
