He is one of several people who have suffered an elevator failure at Nova Scotia’s train station in recent months. Just like a lift at a station or NS platform normally takes a few days at most, it now takes weeks, sometimes several months, before the repair can be carried out. An NS spokesperson explains this to RTL Nieuws.
“Material is hard to come by”
The company says it can do little about it. The problem is said to arise from problems with the supply of essential parts, which have caused “a lot of problems” for NS. “It’s hard to get them on the spectrum in time. You see this all over the world, many companies have run out of raw materials and ships get stuck in China, which means it takes longer for products to be delivered. We find it very boring.”
Rail manager ProRail confirms lift problems. “Where in the past we could click ‘order’ with the push of a button and the part would arrive in a day or two, now it takes weeks or even months for the part to arrive.”
