“Danger to life” as Scots prepare for heavy blizzard-like snow that brings travel chaos –

Parts of Scotland are bracing for heavy snow and blizzard-like winds as forecasters predict more weather chaos along the way.

Travel disruptions are expected in most of the country, with two distinct yellow Met Office notices starting at 6:00 am Wednesday.

Meteorologists warn of heavy snow, “very strong winds” and the risk of frequent lightning causing “storms” in some places.

They say there is a risk of injury and “life-threatening” and damage to buildings from flying debris.

Travel interruptions are also foreseen in road, rail, air and ferry services.

Forecasts say: “Temperatures in Scotland and Northern Ireland are expected to drop dramatically on Wednesday following torrential rains with frequent showers of heavy, windy snow from the Atlantic.

“Away from the west-facing coasts, 2-5 cm of snow and 7-10 cm in some places can accumulate even at low altitudes, while on higher ground they can accumulate 20-30 cm by Thursday morning in some places. .

“The downpours will be accompanied by strong gusts of wind with winds blowing between 50 and 60 mph and a small chance of 70 mph off the coast.
