Apple is also adding always-on display support in iOS 16, which will arrive on the iPhone 14 this year. Such a screen can still display some information on the lock screen as the screen refresh rate can be reduced significantly. According to Bloomberg, only iPhone 14 Pro models will have an always-on display this fall.
Many Android phones have had such a screen for a while now. Apple reportedly planned to add this feature to the iPhone 13 last year, but later changed those plans.
