ADO Den Haag led 3-0 in the match against Excelsior, but eventually lost on penalties, meaning that the Rotterdam club will play in the Eredivisie next season. After the final whistle, ADO fans came onto the field for the second time and the players had to flee to the locker room.

They went to the branch to confront. Firecrackers and chairs were thrown at the visiting fans. ME has proved helpful in getting fans off the pitch.

The match itself was turbulent. The game was stopped twice, first because of a lineman’s bombardment and then because the ADO supporters broke through the fence and stopped on the field.
