LSVb: students also deserve compensation for expensive energy

Gas prices have been rising for months and now the news came yesterday that Russia has partially closed the gas tap to the Netherlands. We won’t see much of it in the short term, but experts warn that the winter results could be significant. And we will definitely feel it in our wallets.

Even higher prices

Gasterra does its best to prevent this, but cannot rule out the possibility that higher gas prices will be passed on to consumers. “We try to minimize the impact on the market by predicting early,” said a company spokesperson.

Gas expert René Peters of TNO thinks this will be a difficult story. “If there is a really serious shortage, there will be a rush for alternatives in Europe, as the gas taps are increasingly closed. Then prices can really rise and it will take longer,” he warns.
