The number of supermarkets near secondary schools also increased by more than 26%. Teenagers like to go there after school or during their lunch break to get frikandel sandwiches, cookies and soft drinks.
Cabinet wants less fast food
State Secretary Van Ooijen finds it quite shocking that there is such an increase in unhealthy food in schools. “It is especially moving that there is more offer at schools in neighborhoods where health gaps are already large,” says Van Ooijen.
Because we know that the choices that consumers make, in this case children, are often made unconsciously. These are often “unconscious” habits and reactions to the environment, offer and advertising.
The company is committed to the fight against the large fast food supply. “In order to stop the proliferation of burgers, pizzas and döner sandwiches, State Secretary Van Ooijen (ChristenUnie) will try to pass legislation to restrict the supply.” This plan should be ready after the summer.
