Farmers will not move in The Hague next week, as agricultural action group Agractie predicts. The protest will now move to the Veluwe.
A group of farmers planned to demonstrate in The Hague on Wednesday against nitrogen plans that the cabinet thought went too far. However, this idea was not supported by everyone. “In the discussions earlier this week, it became clear that the end parties we asked to fight for our future together had different views on this topic,” Agractie said in a press release.
Other parties involved are more in favor of a ‘positive air show on the Veluwe’, according to the farmers’ action group.
Wim Brouwer of LTO Gelderse Vallei says that politicians will also be involved in the farmers’ campaign, and that landowners are still discussing the exact position. “It will be an act with all the decorations,” she says. “We have no business in The Hague because there are only politicians who look at farmers differently.”
